Blueprints used in construction often need scale drawings of real life objects. They are needed because obviously you can't fit an entire dresser size, or an entire garage on a blueprint. So, when architects make a blueprint, they scale the drawing. When scaling the drawing, they use the standard of simplifying rational expressions.
Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Master's Degree in Architecture, Doctor of Architecture, Ph.D. in Architecture, Internship at an architecture company, and a state certification.
Pay Scale: $38, 900 - $84, 409
Job Duties: An architect will work with the developer on the building's location, design, structural needs and budget. The architect will use a computer-generated sketching program called CAAD (Computer-Assisted Design and Drafting) to create blueprints. Once the preliminary sketches have been agreed upon, the architect will create a more technical and detailed plan while meeting the safety requirements and aesthetics agreed upon. The architect may select a contractor to execute the project.
